Shouldn't that company be making those engineers sign contracts that makes that sort of thing illegal?

I would think so. I would also send them to jail as well for stealing my property (if I were said company and if it could be proven).

Who knows, if he wouldn't get the usb port blocking software to prevent using thumb drives b/c they didn't want to use ps2 mice... *shrug*

I hate USB keyboards, and so therefore have come to hate USB mice by association. From now on I'm all about the PS/2 keyboards AND mice. We have a bunch of Dell Optiplex GX620s at work and all they have are USB ports, no PS/2. The USB keyboards are terrible.

And yeah, having the engineers sign the contract means they could get into serious legal trouble for taking the work elsewhere. I thought that was a pretty standard thing to do anywhere. I know it was something beaten into my head in school both when I was a chemical engineer major and computer science major.
