Someone changed my background to all these crazy swastikas. I got a good chuckle out of it, but now I can't find my original background

Dear Sir,
While I am flattered you enjoyed both the swastika and the picture of the wallpaper I found beneath the paint in my son's room, I would appreciate it if you had ASKED for permission before using it. In fact, I would never have noticed had you bothered to COPY THE IMAGE TO YOUR OWN SERVER rather than just referencing it directly on mine.
Hotlinking to images on other people's pages in this manner is considered to be rude.
In the future, you should really consider asking for permission before using copyrighted images. and be thankful I didn't hit you with a DMCA lawsuit.

Perhaps, sir, you should work on your reading skills.eyes_of_orionMay 13 2006, 05:45:56 UTC
Dear Sir,
With all due respect, did you not read the entry? Mr. omgz_rofl_wtf did not personally hotlink anything-- the entire premise of his entry was that someone else changed his background without permission. The entire amusement he expressed in the entry was purely satirical and, to me, obvious. Therefore, rather than throwing your weight around through your little DMCA lawsuit threats, you should express your displeasure toward people who commit a difference sort of "crime"-- breaking into other people's Livejournal accounts.

Dear M'am,
With no respect whatsoever, do you understand the concept of hotlinking and bandwidth theft? Mr. Anonymous hosted that image on HIS site. He pays the bill. It was not Mr. omgz_rofl_wtf 's background. It was Mr. Anonymous's's's. Every time this livejournal page loaded, it was costing HIM money. If Mr. omgz_rofl_wtf_bbq_o_ryl wants a background of his very own, he should find one he likes, SAVE IT to a an image server he is authorized to use, and link to that. Mr. omgz_rofl_wtf_bbl_gtfo was watering his lawn with somebody else's garden hose, and because Mr. Anonymous turned of the water and pissed in the hose, HE is the dick? You should really understand how hosting works and the costs involved before accusing people of "breaking into other people's livejournal accounts".
Signed, MeatFarley, a person who BOTHERED to know their ass from their elbow.
Yes, let's do spell this out

I think you're overestimating Mr. Omgz's grasp of the way the internet works.
Mr. Omgz stated: "Someone changed my background to all these crazy swastikas. I got a good chuckle out of it, but now I can't find my original background." This clearly implies that the change TO swastikas was the change FROM his original background. This happened because "his" original background was a hotlinked image, and the owner of that image hotswapped that image for the swastikas.
No one "broke into" Mr. Omgz's livejournal account. Mr. Omgz hotlinked an image from the above Mr. Anonymous, who decided to pay back the hotlink by hotswapping in a swastika instead.

Yeah, I grasped hold of the situation a little while ago, but let's all learn to get along.
I forgot to imageshack it, that's my fault. Sorry for the trouble.
Thanks for the puppets, though. And the swastikas were cute. And sorry everyone had to write dissertations, and all of that. . . Despite the fact that I enjoyed reading them.
And I'll be sure to send everyone christmas cards.
