“Caution is a most valuable asset in fishing, especially if you are the fish.”

An old fisherman gave me his rod for teaching his Krabby how to dive. I didn't want to take it but - er, how can I say this nicely - he was insistent. I didn't want to offend him.

So... like um... is there a reason I'm catching nothing but Magikarp?

'Cause you suck at fishing?

Um... sorry. I didn't know. I just thought you attached the bait and waited.

Well you have to pull the fish out, too.

Fishing with a line's boring anyway.

I know that. It's how I landed these Magikarp after all.

Well I find it relaxing. You should try it sometime.

Where are you trying to fish? It could be that Magikarp are the only pokemon that are there.

Lake Aeolus?

Huh. Magikarp are slower than other fish. If something disurbed the water too much then maybe everything else just swam off quicker than they did?

Sorry, I don't really know much about fishing.

That sounds like it!

Thank you so much.

What kind of rod is it?

I dunno. He just said he'd give me his old rod though it feels like he forced me into it somewhat.

That would explain why you're only catching Magikarp. The better the rod, the better your chances are of catching better Pokemon, like Horsea or Goldeen. With an old rod, you're only really going to get Magikarp.

Oh, I see.

Never mind. It's no big deal. I'll just have to work on getting better.
