Two more pics..

Okay this one isn't exactly the way I planned it... the lighting was REALLY hard for one thing, and the picture was so memory-intensive that I finally gave up cuz it kept crashing... so here's the welcome home:

The things I like about coming home.. the girls hair looks great. The wood grain. The flowers.

Well done. :)

You don't know me, I'm trolling.

You have a nice talent for body positioning and modeling, better than a lot of animation students I know. With the top picture, I think the thing that bothers me about the lighting is that you can't tell what time of day it is. Maybe sunset, based on the orangey yellow highlights. If so, the stairway should be either a little darker or have bright light pouring out of it. The woman should have a little bit of a shadow to ground her into the scene (if you just do stills, you could paint that in). If the light is coming from a porch lamp, that should show in the gradation of light and shadows on the ground ( ... )

hi! :) nice for the message. Actually I have to add you as friends cuz this entry is REALLY old, as is the picture. Most of my entries are friends-only. :) I have since gotten a much better machine and graphics card (I can render shadows now) and as such I've improved a bit with lighting though I still have MUCH to learn. It sounds like you know a lot about art, lighting, and 3D... it'll be fun to chat! Do you do any art of your own? I use Bryce, Poser, and a bit of Cararra now.

I used Maya in film school (back when I was going to be a 3D animator), and most of the other animators my year were using Maya so even once I'd quit that to head toward Stop Motion I was still seeing their renderings all the time. I don't do much art on my own... just redisigning my website and making new lj icons whenever I get an idea. Sometimes I think I should do more, but I haven't found a medium I really connect with.

Actually, what I should have said was that the medium I connected with most (stop motion) gets expensive and is terribly time consumming. That would be rather more accurate. :-D
