If you lived with anyone at all like my last apartment-mate, that's not the least bit surprising. I have a clean kitchen, a computer, and my B5 DVDs. These are jointly sufficient conditions for happiness.

It wasn't getting away from her (though it sure was a relief). It wasn't even being able to keep my apartment the way I wanted or doing whatever I wanted, though that was also pretty nice. Ultimately I just got accustomed to being alone, and realized how silly it is to depend on other people for your happiness. Putting your mental health into other people's hands is never a good idea. Friends can keep you happy, but they (or their absence) can also make you very sad if you define your life that way.

Maybe sort of neutral? I do like living alone so far, but I'm slightly afraid I'll get a little loony. No forced interaction with students will also up my hermitry level.

Good advice, but I don't know anyone who plays D&D (or anything else) and I can't think of any quality television programs that both I and people I know would want to watch. I'll just have to keep watching Italian Spiderman with people in my office.
