Henry was astounding that Ashley had time to sleep. She was out every night hunting down Abnormals, come home and spend time with him, and still be up before everyone in the Sanctuary. He would worry about her sometimes, especially when she would look pale and about to fall asleep during a meeting with Magnus. He would continually tell her to get more rest but she would retort that he was not her mother and then proceed to do things that would prove he was not her mother. But that’s another story.
Of course, he found her in her bedroom, unleashing hell-fire on the poor punching bag that looked as if it were about to give up. Her concentration was so in focus that he was barely a foot away from him before he realized he was on the ground and she was straddling his waist. Looks of anger, confusion, and happiness appeared on her face in rapid succession that Henry realized he probably should not have disrupted her exercise.
“Sorry.” She winced when she realized she might have hurt him. She stood and helped him out.
“No problem. I like to be reminded that I have a warrior woman on my side.” He laced an arm around her waist and pulled her into a quick, but not lacking passion, kiss. She had her hands on his shoulders and that’s when he realized she had not been wearing gloves.
“Ash?” He asked as he brought her hands in front of her.
She rolled her eyes. “I’m fine really. And I’m getting enough sleep and everything. You’re such a worry wort.” She turned around and went to a cabinet where her boxing gloves were. She would put them on for Henry’s sake but would take them off as soon as he left. She understood that he wanted to look after her but she could handle the beating her hands got, as long as it did not mess with her aim.
“I’ve never had someone to take care so with you, I want to make sure you’re all right.” He confessed as he stepped forward only a little. He was trying to gage her reaction.
She turned, a little too quickly, which caused her to grab the open cabinet door. She closed her eyes for several moments before opening them again and saw Henry standing next to her.
“Ash, are you all right?”
She nodded. “Yeah I’m fine. I’ve probably over done it today.” She did not want to tell him she was getting dizzier as she stood there. “Can you hand me the water over there?” She pointed in the direction where she would always place the refreshing beverage. Henry moved away from her and just watching him made her feel sick.
Ashley spun harder and harder until she finally collapsed on the ground and the last thing she heard was Henry calling for her.
