She is looking great! I've been thinking about putting Savannah in this same clip. I've attempted it before but was never happy with how her legs looked. What blade did you use on Faith's body?
Thanks! I struggle a little bit with getting her front legs/shoulder area to look all right. I believe I use a #40 (yikes) with the grain on her body, but it's possible it's a #30. It's an adjustable blade that fits the Wahl Chromado clippers, and I put it on the closest setting possible.
My biggest problem is getting things blended. I found a site that makes it look easy to do a lamb trim, but I really don't think Savannah has quite enough hair on her legs to try it yet.
Thank you! Weaving is not Faith's favorite agility obstacle, but she's a pretty good sport about it. I think I have a bad tendency to keep working on them past the time I should have called it quits for that session. The flat base kind like I have is really expensive but also very nice. I have a cheap all-PVC set from affordableagility.com, and the PVC base gets in the way (I think), plus they are flimsy. Faith's weaving education has included channel weaves, straight weaves with guides, and the weave-o-matics. I am really interested in the 2x2 method; I want to buy Susan Garrett's new weaving DVD! I've heard mixed reviews about it, though.
i thought this was an interesting review and discussion of the 2x2 dvd. i keep thinking about buying a couple bases but the cash layout right now sucks. i had made stick in the ground weaves a couple years ago but they didn't hold up well at all.
The thing about not lowering criteria when the dog keeps messing up bothers me. I think there was something about that in one of the videos that Susan Garrett posted in her blog. Repeated failure doesn't make Faith try harder, it makes her give up. Maybe that's a flaw in the way I've trained her to be trained. Shaping Success is the first thing by Garrett that I've bought, so I'm not that familiar with her methodology; maybe I would understand and agree with it more if I had a clearer picture of how she trains.
Haha, I wasn't being facetious when I referred to our tiny yard! That huge field is (unfortunately) not our property. I used to take Faith out there a lot to play fetch, though. I haven't done it in awhile for a few reasons: there are several big and hidden holes that I'm afraid she might injure herself with, there are tons of little sticker brambly things that get caught up in her coat, and some of the neighborhood cats hang out there. I should show you pictures of my aunt's property to make you justifiably jealous, though. ;) She has a boarding farm less than ten minutes from my house, and I take Faith there all the time to trek around the pastures.
It's an experiment. I notice she doesn't listen to me any better when I wear my "Pack Leader" t-shirt, so I wanted to see if she behaved badly with this one. I'm beginning to suspect that Faith cannot read.

Wait, I know your plan. You are immunizing her to the suggestion on the shirt so that she will obey regardless.
