ain't it fun to be human

I've had a potentially very cool thing happening with someone I've been working with. He had some bone eating thing that ate a lot of his jaw, messed up his TM joints and caused sinus, eye things.... Three years ago he ahd an eight hour surgery where his left eye was out of the head and bathed in cloths to keep it alive and moist. Since then he is ( Read more... )

Wow... very cool! (As M can tell you, mystery sludge and goo is one of my favorite topics).

I can only imagine the joy this guy must be experiencing.

If I ever have any health problems, I'm calling you.

Let's just say my nursing instructors are impressed at my ability to discuss icky substances in such a clinical, detailed manner.

I knew I'd arrived at some moment of transition when I could eat lunch while watching a pelvic surgery tape in a visceral class. the difference for me is the respect shown the patient. I can't stand the hack and gore approach I've glimpsed on tv surgery shows. This show had my visceral teacher present during surgery and a surgeon who has respect. it's all brutal, but there is paying attention and there is butchery.

The craniosacral therapy work is often helpful with facial and sinus stuff. there is a site www.upledger.com
"find a therapist in your area" and check out ones with lots of CS and VM initials after their names. Why surgery again?

I have a feeling we have a better chance getting her to try craniosacral therapy, than a colonic.

Well when they did the first surgery.. they forwarned me that I will have to have it again. And I am already starting to feel as clogged as ever.. and the headaches are madding. I get at least a two bad headaches that last at least 4 days a month. And little ones throughout the rest of the month.

The last surgery they did a whole work of things including fixing the septum. I hated it the first time.

I will check the link out.

Thanks.

Consider yourself signed up. I leave it to M to figure out the when and where. I'm a goal oriented therapist. I can spend a session (usually 75-90 minutes) to give information (to the proprioceptors in the body and some mental stuff) and change for a particular problem, or let my various assessment palpations set a course. I incorporate some osteopathic modalitites like the craniosacral, visceral manipulation, myofascial, passive and active stretching, movement and core stabilization work. it's a very creative process sometimes. I'm going to bring M and K a mediball and show them some core stabilization tricks in July and it might even lead to a group grope in September. i have a feeling that time will fly fly fly and there is another emphasis event in Setember, i seem to recall. Something about dresses and cakes and celebration. In any course, if we do some ball work, it really should be done prior to wine tasting! I'll be there in July for 2.5 days. i think that time is for daughter hugging and k and m congratulating and meeting ( ... )

Just tell me when and where, and I'll be there. I will leave the details of the session up to you, and your opinion of what I need. How's that? And if the time gets precious, by all means, don't worry about it. I will just have to make it to Hawaii one of these days. You should be free to focus on M and K and joyousness.

You are exactly right, it is fascinating to meet the relatives of friends. I have even become good friends with some of them, which is nice.

I must say, the idea of baby Michaela arriving from a feed store is the funniest thing I've heard in ages! I nearly sprayed soy-banana-protein shake all over the computer monitor.

Wow...it sounds like I need (at some point) to plan to spend several weeks in Hawaii, and work with you. I've never had surgery, but I have enough other problems with my sinuses that I'd go to great lengths to get them resolved.

Hiya!

I'm Raaven, one of Michaela's friends...she said that you might be
willing to take massage therapy appts while you're in NYC in
September. I'd very much like to be added to the list, if your
schedule permits.

Thanks! :)

Hi Raven,

michaela pimping her mom works for me. I've got to work somewhere and would love to work with her friends and all that. it's how I meet most people I want to keep knowing. the September trip is easy because I don't have tickets yet and could come early, if that's what's happening and works for M and K. I have to work somewhere so it could be there instead of here! I'll post about how I work and give ideas on that when I have a little more time. I'm getting in that almost-ready-for-a great-adventure mode. A friend/teacher comes from Australia next Tuesday to begin the wild rumpus. Classes (like M, I'm happiest when saturated with learning minutae about things that interest me), hanging with friends who know what the hell I'm talking about, wine o:clock and dancing. Almost the whole month of July is that for me. how August bills will be paid and my ticket to NY in September will happen is up to.....

later, carol
