I think it's good that you set it in the idolverse because all the setting has basically been done for you. Just adding in the information like how long it's been and all helps it progress abit faster as you have to fit it in a short word limit. The whole past that they had and what had happened makes it seem like there's much more depth to the story as well.

I have to agree with jess in that I like that you kept it in canon-verse because it sets up a lot of their history for you. I loved the taohan dialogue and even though the interaction between taokai wasn't that long I really appreciate the familiarity felt there too. it doesn't blow up in the way you would expect a member-leaving fic would, well except for kyungsoo I guess. in terms of specific passages, I loved the image of the moment he realized his feelings-- those kinds of concrete details make it far more poignant. great work!

When I saw your post sncj, I was already in the mood for uncommon pairings so when I saw your sticky post on your journal too look for your fic list... the "rare pairs" bit haha you're awesome. Reading canon always hits harder, especially those taking place in the future ;; though the pain of jongin leaving (like the comment above said) isn't as, well, there because it really was all about Tao's heart-deep devotion to Kyungsoo. Even though Kyungsoo didn't have any lines, it still played out so nicely in Tao's P.O.V.! Short but sweet and a flow that spoke volumes, I really enjoyed this ^^
