1. Where is a link? It's easy to say there are videos of this and that..... do you have proof or are you simply blowing smoke?
2. Even if those videos exist, what makes you think the soldiers SHOULD have done anything about the situation? Do not confuse the fight for democracy with an attempt to change Iraqi or Muslim customs or values. How do you know the acts you allege were not a local custom, a rite of passage, an honor, or an act of pure love? You must understand that American values are not universal - in some countries, it is legal (and perfectly acceptable) to practice bigamy, to act on pedophilian urges, to marry children, to arrange marriages, and to procreate in public. Ever read "National Geographic?" You'll notice that things we would consider oddities - such as facial tattoos, bodily piercings, and bare breasts - are rather common in some parts of the world.
THANK YOU that exactly what i was going to say. anyone who says they deserve it is a fucking idiot. those american soldiers are doing the exact same things that saddam was doing, and we are supposed to be the "good guys" freeing these people from a tyrant. gimme a break. its wrong, and its fucked up. and anyone who tries to justify it by saying that its ok because the iraqi soldiers are evil and americans are good needs to shut up. *end mini rant*
I think it's interesting that the Democrats are so ticked off about the prison pics (those prisoners all survived, by the way) and yet they seem to have already forgotten the images of American corpses, murdered, bloody, burned, dragged through the streets of Fallujah, and hung in effigy.
Which is more offensive? Granted, our soldiers should be more respectful and representative of American values, but the Iraqi rebels will stop at nothing. They are the new enemy of peace and the ONLY significant obstacle between the chaos of today and a free and self-governed Iraqi state.
