For America, Hillary Clinton would be the first woman President. Now I'm not telling who I'm voting for (truth time: I'm not sure yet) but I do find it interesting that, compared to allegedly "less free" countries, it's taking American women a really long time to get in the game / get elected.

Canada can be added to the list as well (although the first woman pm of canada was actually vice PM and got in by default or something.

I just learned that the US never ratfied the UN treaty on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, because it would grant all the woman the right to abortions, and the right to paid maternity leave. Neatos. This class is making me lose so much of my faith in our country. It's not like there was much there to begin with.

Not only that, but in many countries both spouses are entitled to paid maternity leave (although for fathers I guess it would be paternity leave...). The idea is that two parents at home, particularly for a family with a <1 month old, can better care for their child AND EACH OTHER.

Why do we elect these people again?
