I KNOW! Seriously, don't they have anything better to do with their time? If you don't like something, then don't read it. Who cares if their grammar sucks or they did something you didn't like with the character? Even published works have grammar errors (fifty shades of grey much?)
YES!!! I can't stand people who attack someone for writing a fanfiction about characters they don't like. IF YOU DON'T LIKE A CHARACTER DON'T READ STORIES ABOUT THEM!!
Sigh... That one annoys me soooooo much.
But the grammatical errors etc, as you say, they can be found in published works, whent there are people paid to make sure that doesn't happen. Unless I'm missing something, no one is getting paid for writing/betaing fanfiction. Mistakes will happen. BE POLITE ABOUT IT!
There is a huge difference between being nice (as you sound like you were :-D) and being a jerks. The people i'm ranting about in particular we're big jerks! I do not like people who need to put others down to validate their own miserable existence. It's like because the person they are insulting is o the other side of the Internet, they can treat them like garbage. It bothers me, can you tell? :-P
I admit, being a Brit (and a beta for several people) sometimes makes me a bit more prone to spotting errors, specially Americanisms, but I'd never go about pointing things out the way those thugs do.
In the past I've either made a small comment as part of a longer review, where in general I've praised the fic concerned, or where it's something big I've sent a PM.
I really don't understand why anyone would do it any differently *shrugs*

But that wasn't the point. Concrit is something that's good, helpful to anyone writing, but crit and personal attacks... NOT RIGHT!
