Yankees Game
The Yankees came to town to play the Tigers and Kathy and I went to a game on Wednesday. It was supposed to be Tuesday night, but rain delayed it until Wednesday afternoon. Sports Update
It has been a busy weekend in sports. Unfortunately, the Detroit Red Wings lost to the San Jose Sharks by a score of 2-1 in Game 5 on Saturday. The victory clinched the best-of-seven series 4 games to 1. Kathy was very disappointed that they have been eliminated from the playoffs. She is a die-hard Red Wings fan. Red Wings Game
Kathy and I went to the Red Wings game last night. They played the San Jose Sharks in Game 4 of a best-of-seven playoff series. The Wings were down 3 games to one and needed a win to send the series back to San Jose for Game 6. They got off to a very fast start. In Memoriam Ernie Harwell
Detroit Tigers radio announce Ernie Harwell died yesterday of bile duct cancer. He was one of the most legendary voices in all of baseball and a Hall-of-Famer. I listened to him from 2000-2002 while I was at Bowling Green. BG is in northwest Ohio and about an hour from Detroit, so I could get his broadcasts. He retired after the 2002 season. Graduation Weekend
Graduation ceremonies were this weekend and I was very busy. My parents came in on Thursday night and my aunt, uncle, and cousin came on Friday morning. The first event was the Rackham graduation in Hill Auditorium. Rackham is the graduate school that confers all doctoral degrees here at UMich. Red Wings Game
Last night, Kathy and I went to Game 4 of the playoff series between the Phoenix Coyotes and Detroit Red Wings. The Coyotes were leading the best-of-7 series 2 games to 1. Moving
I have spent the last several days moving and am just about done now. It is a real pain in the ass and I'm glad it's over. I had to move out of Erven's as his family wants to sell the house now. I took a sublet on north campus. I now live at Green Brier Apartments. My roommate's name is Paul. He is a doctoral student in aerospace engineering ( Read more... ) -
National Champions
Congratulations to the Duke Blue Devils on winning the Div. I National Championship in Men's basketball last night with a 61-59 victory over the Butler Bulldogs! It was an outstanding game. Baseball Opening Day
Baseball is here! Today is opening day for most teams. The Yankees began their season last night against the hated Red Sox in Boston. They were up 5-1 after 4 innings and C.C. UM Hockey
U-M got SCREWED in it's Quarterfinal NCAA Hockey game against Miami (OH). It was a hard-fought game throughout and was tied at 2 at the end of regulation. In the first overtime period, Michigan appeared to have scored the winning goal. Everyone went nuts at b-dubs where I was watching the game.
