I am a bit confused about the spoon for a mast, tho....
The spoon fit through her sash like a sword, so it wouldn't be big enough to be a mast would it?

Ahem. A spoon the size of a sword would be a crappy, but serviceable mast. The spoon was always meant to be bigger than normal.

I loved this chapter! I had never imagined September with such long hair but I like it. And now I fully understand what 'a ship of her own making' means. Very well written, Cath. :-)
