A Poem for the stray dogs in my yard

Feb 05, 2013 08:17

Two little dogs
You wandered in through the front gate,
And never left - making comfortable beds for yourselves in the dirt.
I know that it is better than the footpaths you grew up on.

I might never pat you
But I love you anyway.

Stay forever.
And bite the people who keep trying to steal our fruit.

Aww they sound so very cute! Don't suppose you have pics of these two pups do you?

And bite the people who keep trying to steal our fruit.

I'll try to take a pic of them this afternoon! They give me very cute eyes and tail wags!

Post now amended to include picture of the pups - looking at me curiously having been awoken from their nap by me trying to take a picture of them.

Aww they're rather cute looking pups how long have they been haunting your place? They look like they own it the way they're looking at you there hahhaha

I have my sweet kitties now because their mother just wandered in and stayed forever! :D and I second the request for a photo. :D

We had a stray cat in the yard for awhile but unfortunately I'm horribly allergic to kitties so there will be no proper adoptions :(

how sad! but there's always puppies for you, I guess. I love dogs, as well. I have 2 in addition to my 3 cats. We have more animals than people in my house. :)

those are some pretty pups!

They are lucky pups to have wandered into your yard...and you are lucky to have them :)

I usually talk to them on the way in and out and they wag their tails a bit :)

The poem made me teary, especially this line:I know that it is better than the footpaths you grew up on.

Those dogs look healthy but their eyes are little sad, as if they lived hard lives. I'm glad they have found a sanctuary in your garden. Perhaps you'll adopt them as the sigil of your house. Two dogs under the yellow of the mango groves. Oak and Iron, Guard Me Well!
