Cair Paravel - Wednesday Evening

Aug 26, 2010 10:00

The air tasted different the moment Edmund reached that undetermined point where Fandom was behind him and Narnia was ahead. With his belongings on his back and his sword at his side, he wasted no time in making his way to Cair Paravel. He didn't make it far before the word was out that he was home. The trumpets were a bit much though.

Willow? Slightly freaking out. When she heard who was arriving she got her things and ran downstairs to meet him. If by "her things" you meant "Alex, and a worried expression."

"Ed's coming? I didn't know Ed was coming. Did you know Ed was coming?" This last bit she addressed to Alex, as though perhaps he'd been getting messages when Willow wasn't looking. Alex, for his part, was more interested in the trumpets.

Sure enough, Ed was coming. He was handing his bags and sword over to be cared for, something he didn't have the luxury of in Fandom. Willow wasn't the person he'd expected to see first, but he was growing to accept her as family and Alex was a welcome sight as well. "My apologies for the fanfare."

"At least you weren't taking a nap?" Willow replied. "Not that anyone was taking a nap or that I'm implying the trumpet players would be all loud and noisy when Alex was sleeping because if anything people have been over-courteous about those kinds of things which would be a little weird if it wasn't so darned useful but more to the point there was the you and the arriving and did we know you were coming? I didn't know you were coming. Otherwise I could've had cookies... or some other completely non-sweet and without bad connotations food item available for you."

All in one breath too.

"I didn't know I was coming until a few hours ago," he assured her. "I think the unannounced appearance caught everyone off-guard. The sentiment is appreciated," and by that he meant the cookies or other food as well, "but there'll be plenty of time for me to eat. I won't be returning to the school."

Peter studied his brother carefully as he approached. There was something - something in his bearing that was slightly different, and Peter couldn't help asking. "For good, Ed?"

Edmund gave a single nod. There definitely was a bounce in his step that wasn't only the result of the Narnian air. "I'm home."

Peter smiled, nodding his understanding and closed the distance between them to clasp Edmund's hand. "Welcome home, brother."

His grip was firm, as if he was clinging to this being real. "It's good to be home," he said. It wasn't quite a sigh of relief, but his shoulders visibly relaxed as he said it. "All is well?"
