The letter Edmund got in return had several large, muddy paw-prints over it.
Hey Ed,
Apart from the occasional haunting near the university, things have been pretty quiet for me. I may need a new roommate though, the week before last was kind of strange, and I think I freaked mine out a little.
Anything interesting to the west apart from snowy mountains?
While I should act surprised, I am afraid I am not at all in shock that you are in need of a new roommate. What did you do to her?
No one in written or oral history has returned news of the west. There has to be something out there, but there are no easy passes through the mountains.
Please pass on my apologies to your former roommate. She must have faced quite the ordeal to no longer want to live with you. Do try to be kind to the people who have not been exposed to the stranger twists of life. Have you thought of recruiting a hunting partner from your dormitory? If you are going to find anyone to be back-up, university is the most likely of places to find them.
As for the journey, I will be sure to take plenty of bolts for my crossbow. It is a long way off yet. There are Christmas celebrations to plan for and a long winter to go yet. Are you going home for Christmas?
Edmund
PS. You could make sure none of the artefacts are cursed.
