[for Sansa]

There was one person in particular that Susan was extremely keen to share the happy news with, and that was Sansa. The only reason she hadn't told her right off was that she wanted to be absolutely sure. But she was too excited to to keep this from her best friend for very long - she and Jon both were close to giddy - so as soon as she'd told ( Read more... )

Sansa sat on the porch at Summerfell, in her hands the boiled then dried strips of palm leaves were gradually becoming another basket. It was slow going as they tended towards sharpness but Sansa had got plenty of practise in, it was more mindless than sewing, the twists and turns fit together without an eye for detail especially in the simpler patterns. Besides her Eddara was asleep in the shaded outdoor cradle, she was restless and Sansa could hear her stirring, whimpering in her sleep and twisting in her blankets. She hummed a snatch of Narnian tune for her, and watched as her daughter's breathing became more steady. It was as always a lovely day on the island.

"Hello," said Susan softly, seeing Eddara asleep and not wanting to wake her. She sat down in the chair beside Sansa's, looking admiringly at the basket she was making. Sansa was getting quite good at them. "She's growing so fast, I can hardly believe it," she said with a nod towards Eddara's cradle, and then her heart skipped a little beat to think of Eddara and this little one growing up together.

"Yes," said Sansa, "it hardly seems like a moment ago it was June and she was tiny." She'd certainly made up for her early start it seemed since then.
It was lovely to have Susan living so much closer now as well. It had taken no time at all for Sansa to find her and give her a very Narnian ballgown while she had the ability to do so. And she was always on hand to help with Eddara which made Sansa very hopeful seeing how good Susan was at being an aunt.

"Well," said Susan, her cheeks turning pink, "come next June she might seem even less tiny in comparison to her cousin."
