this sounds abysmal, like Anita Blake with less sex and twice the exposition.

Actually, the whole point is that it IS NOT abysmal. Anita Blake turned into porn but that isn't my problem with it - it's that it's unedited self-insertion Mary Sue fan fic of Hamilton's own earlier works. And I just can't deal with that level of ridiculousness. These books, despite the flaws I pointed out, are quick-moving and intriguing and they aren't poorly written so much as I am not loving the style of the repetition. That's different from sucking.

I dig that you dig the books, and the content doesn't sound bad by default. but man, repetitive first-person exposition is one of the things that is like nails down the chalkboard of my very soul. at best, I can write it off as padding the word count, and at worst, it can make the character sound scatterbrained, or robotic. especially if they aren't expounding upon the given topic in a new way, or upon a new aspect of the topic.

anyway, I like it when an author has faith that I'm going to remember what happened in the last book, or several books back, or that I will go back and look something up if it's too obscure.

I read the first one awhile ago and the repetition really, really got to me. I can't decide if I want to read the second one.

Like, it's not a straight up Bond movie but it's totally something The Rock would star in.

If The Rock were, you know, female. Or suitable for any other part.

Michelle BADASS Rodriguez.

Like I said, I skim. It helps.

I have not seen her in a single movie I have enjoyed.

I do not even know what to do with that answer. My love for Michelle's movies is that overwhelming. Even when they make me mad. (Avatar is the exception. Not even for her did I watch it.)
