Kaia sighed and looked over the pile of homework she had on just the first day of classes. Sparkles, her fluffy grey cat, jumped into her lap and demanded attention by lightly digging her claws into Kaia's leg. "Geez, ok ok Sparkles, I'll pet you," Kaia mummbled, her Scottish accent thickening in annoyance.
The porthole opened and a group of older Ravenclaws came through, laughing and talking amongst themselves. Kaia sighed and stroked Sparkles intently, wishing at least one of her fellow Ravenclaws was her friend. Half-way through her second year at Hogwarts, and the only thing she had to look forward to were the weekly letters from her mom, and Sparkles undying neediness for affection.
She bent her head back over her work and began to read the first chapter to her Defense Against the Dark Arts book, hoping to finally figure out something in that class.
