This was the highlight of my work night :3

Lumine reads spot-on for me, and I especially like his stubborn insistence (to himself, anyway) that he's going to get the upper hand with these daft humans. His reactions to Dumbledore's antics are great -- and his reaction to being told he has a soul was neat, consice, and eminently believable.

I know only bits and snips about HP ("all I need to know about HP I learned from deleterius" *coughs*), but as a character in this I enjoyed Dumbledore immensely ;D Using the legilimancy was clever on a few different levels -- including establishing for the reader that Lumine is in fact quite wrong about himself, and a good deal of his personal cosmology to boot ;3

The cat is also a nice touch. Especially that the chapter ends with Lumine just holding it, and not doing anything diabolic to it. Leaves the reader debating --

A++ would read again :D

Thank you for the review! I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter.

Lumine and Dumbledore are interesting characters to write for. I'm really pleased that you picked up on some of the things I was doing with Dumbledore's legilimency. I wasn't sure if that would come through to the reader or if I was being too subtle, but I figured it was better to be overly subtle than to be overly blatant.

As always, your praise about characterization means much to me! And the fact that you liked Dumbledore despite being admittedly apathetic toward HP means a great deal, too.

Hah! If Lumine tried anything diabolic, I'm pretty sure the cat would have been just as evil right back. I think Dumbledore knew that when he gave Lumine that cat. >3

Thank you kindly for your words of praise.

"It really was interesting what level of intelligence someone could accuse you of having with but a simple look. Right now, if one judged him by the look Lumine was giving him, Dumbledore really should have been no more than a babe in swaddling. I almost feel young again, he thought to himself, smiling.

"You are an idiot."

Or that. Hmm. An idiot or an infant..."

Best. Quote. Of the year.

I'd actually read this chapter before, as well as written a review to it, but my internet must have crapped out and eaten the comment up... oh well.

I'm finding the way things are going to be very interesting. >8D Lumine's not only staying at hogwarts, we see already that he's going to be having to interact with the student body whether he likes it or not. And the teachers.
Which raises the question--what Harry Potter Book year does this take place in? I want to start speculating as to what the current DADA teacher's going to be up to, and how things are going to react, but... :B'

Haha, I really enjoyed writing that part. Given that Dumbledore knows someone who defeated a dark lord as an infant, you can bet he'd much rather be accused of being infantile! :D

The story takes place in fifth year. As for what happens with the DADA teacher... Well, I'm in the same boat as you there, since the next chapter isn't going to be written by me. :D

Very good point! :D That, and infants really are quite amazing... but I digress.

... Oh this is going to be interesting! I'm getting more and more tempted to do some fandom-cramming and really research the Megaman X series, as well as re-read the fifth book just to be able write a chapter at some point. And I may perhaps do so after all. XD
