I loved it, Syv. Absolutely loved it. You took a different path than I would have, but that's rather the point, now isn't it? I really enjoyed the mention of what the rumor mill has been churning out. Some of the rumors are hilariously off target while others are almost spot on. I just kept thinking "Haha, if only they knew how close to the truth they really are!"

I like the way you're writing Hermione and Lumine. Hermione is smart enough to know that she doesn't know everything, but she's also smart enough not to believe everything she hears. And Lumine... *grins* Poor Lumine. Significantly impaired abilities, stuck in a school full of human kids, and even his cat hates him. I wonder how long it will be before this volatile combination spontaneously combusts. (Personally, I think it'll only be as long as it takes for the first Slytherin to think he can pick on Lumine because he's a "squib"/non-human/arrogant, stuck-up prat/insert-reason-of-

I grin to re-read this. I don't write HP often, and it was fun to get into Hermionie's head. I love book-Herm, and she was a sweetie pie (a know-it-all, yes, but very nice). Her kindness is lost on Lumine, but at least he won't be deliberately cruel to her. ;p It's beneath his dignity and a waste of time.

XD It WOULD be funny to see Lumine go postal on someone. I could very easily see some foolish Slyth end up in the medical wing.
