The Most Horrible News of All...

Apr 20, 2011 14:13

Arthur is dragging his feet...he doesn't know if he can do this... Guinevere had asked him to do only one thing, take care of Merlin.

And now Merlin was dead.

How could he possibly break this news to her...how could he possibly say those words? It would break her heart...

arthur, gwen, lancelot

Arthur would never allow that, but it's good to have Lancelot here...

He bites his lip. "How could I let this happen?"

Arthur shakes his head. "No, Merlin has saved my life countless times...and I couldn't help him...not when he needed it the most."

The vision of Merlin's lifeless body is one that he will never forget, or the coldness of the catacombs beneath the castle where he is now buried...

Some Are Too Young to Understand atcamelotsheart April 23 2011, 03:24:37 UTC
While the King is speaking to the Queen, the responsibility of the two young Princes is Rose's.

Amhar is uncharacterisically quiet, he is clutching his pillow and looking very scared. Rose's heart goes out to him, in fact she sits next to him and strokes his back.

Duran on the otherhand is playing on the rocking horse, he realises that something's wrong, but he doesn't understand what.

Soon the Lady Morgana's wards will be brought in. Rose hopes that they'll be a comfort to her charges, especially Amhar.

Tarrwyn is brought in first. She's not in a good mood because Merlin didn't come for breakfast, and Carys and Morgana are upset. While Morgana had been very simple in her explanations, Merlin had been killed that morning, death means little to a five year old. It means not being around and making others upset, which is very rude of him. She has every intention of telling Merlin so when she sees him next.

So she sees Duran playing on the rocking horse, but her champion's very quiet, like Carys is, so she's made, in her mind, and obvious connection. "Did Merlin upset you too?" Whether or not Amhar fully understands, or only has a better grasp than Tarrwyn, is yet to be seen.

As soon as Tarrwyn asks, the floodgates open. "He's gone away! Rose says he can't come back!"

And he begins to sob, clutching Rose tightly.

The sight of seeing her friend crying is almost as effective as seeing Carys do so, thus Tarrwyn will do exactly what she did for her sister, sit next to him, and put an arm around his shoulders. It's a bit more awkward, as he's clutching Rose.

"He went away before he came to get me up. That wasn't very nice of him. If he was going to leave, I'd want to give him a kiss goodbye." She's rather annoyed about that. She missed doing the same thing when her new Uncle Arthur left for a while, but made up for it, and she's hoping that no one thinks she doesn't like Merlin. She thinks he's fine, when he isn't upsetting everyone.

Some understand too well (Gwen / Morgana) exiledskeptic April 24 2011, 18:15:27 UTC
It is late in the day, before Morgana can get to Gwen. The funeral is over, the quick rush job that it is, and Morgana's seen the girls to bed, well, she's seen Tarrwyn to bed, Carys is still following her, a small phantom of a shadow.

Bringing up the Queen's medicinal tea, Morgana makes what will be her last stop for the night.

There's a soft knock, before Morgana pokes her head in, "Gwen?"

"Come in." Gwen's voice is a little hoarse, and Morgana would notice that her eyes are still red and puffy. She does her best to smile a little bit when she sees Morgana with the tea, but doesn't do a good job. "How are you doing, Morgana?"

Morgana comes in carrying the tea with one hand, and holding Carys's with the other. She can't yet talk about things with the girl present. "I've come to see you, make sure you had what you needed."

"Some company would be nice." Gwen admits. She's had far too much time to sit and be depressed alone since she heard the news.
