So, on the SPD front, I got frustrated with the physical therapist and quit.  She was nice and cool and all, but didn't seem to know how to help.  I kept getting the feeling like she was totally winging it.  So I've been seeing a chiropractor who seems confident that he knows what he's doing, which I guess is a good sign.  I can't tell if it's ( Read more... )

ok, what worked for me with the spd is I slept on my back (yeah yeah I know) with my hips elevated with three pillows and the rest of me unsupported, no pillow under my head, it was stupid uncomfortable during the first few days but I was able to WALK, and I got used to it eventually, SPD is a bitch!

Is Sheila going to lactate as well? MAN it would have been convenient to have an extra lactation source in the house!

PS, the reality that Winter came from my body STILL boggles my mind to this day!

I can't even sleep on my right side some nights from the reflux, so I doubt I could manage to sleep on my back with my hips elevated. That's interesting that it helped you though. How soon did it start to get better after you had your baby?
Sheila was thinking about trying to lactate, and was talking about it a bit, but I'd be surprised if she actually does it. It supposedly takes several hours a day of pumping, for weeks or months before anything happens, and I doubt she'd stick with it. Luckily I seem to have an overabundance of breast secretions, so I'll probably start freezing the extra pretty soon.

I wouldn't worry about having enough, you'll make MORE than enough to accommodate your baby

Were you having contractions (other than BH) before your water broke?
I'm 37w 2d today, but I think Danica still has some more cooking to do. At my midwife appointment last week, she guesstimated that Danica's about 5 pounds and will be about 7 at birth (after I told her I didn't want to know her estimate... but oh well).

I'm afraid that I'm not going to feel my contractions either. Of course, now that I've said that, karma will probably bite me in the ass and I'll have the worst contractions possible!
I've been convinced (for various reasons) that I'm going to pop out a big baby, so I told my midwife that I don't want to know her estimate of fetal size since having a potentially large-ish number in the back of my head while I'm in labor isn't going to be helpful for me. So I guess I'm not too upset that she told me anyway, since her prediction is only in the 7 pound range, even though I know it's likely to be wildly inaccurate.
One thing I am betting on though is that she will be long! At our 20w ultrasound, her arms & legs were measuring a week ahead of schedule, and my fundal height was a couple centimeters ahead of schedule at the last visit, even though she only "feels like" a 5 pound baby at this point. I'm average height, as are both of my parents, but sperm donor is 6'3".
