I've really been enjoying the discussion on your blog, btw, and I hope your injury feels better soon, and I really hope you'll find good boots again too, but I have a pretty good idea of the chances of finding actually comfortable attractive shoes... :(

Sour Duck provides some good points, about the make-up issue being more complex than often presented. She doesn't go into the area that's currently interesting me, though (which I don't know if I brought up in my post), which is femininity queered. She talks about women who wear makeup because of all the various pressures and complexities of life, but I think that queering the issue adds a completely different layer, where make-up and other "feminine performances" are intentionally fetished, perverted and subverted.
