It was a gloriously happy and relaxed Henry who tore himself away from Clare long enough to come down to the office for a few hours. Humans smelled, damnit! And they were messy, horrible little creatures who he might have started planning to destroy as soon as he ruled over Attilan.

"Taking care of the library," Henry answered patiently. "Reshelving things, culling books that need to be repaired, helping people find books once in a while. It's usually pretty quiet, though."

Henry had to swallow to stop the hello, nurse expression he was sure crossed his face. Six-foot-and-armored was an impressive look on a woman.

"Henry DeTamble," he said, rising from his chair. "Anything I can help you with?"

"Xena," she offered. At least this guy seemed like less of a jackass than the other guy, which meant the expression on her face was rather more pleasant, in a stoic kind of way. "I'm Gabrielle's guardian." Friend. UST-partner. Something-or-other. Anyway. "I heard she's been working here."

"Xena," Henry repeated. "It's an honor to meet you. She mentions you a lot."

Usually in the context of completely historical improbable events.

"She practically runs the place lately -- she's been here the longest of the current aides."
