I want to be back there SO BADLY right now it hurts. My hobby is looking at properties around East Tawas (these pics are north of there at Presque Isle) which are quite affordable now. Trouble is, the economy there is worse than many other places in the country and I have to still make a living. Double bah!

My dad and my brother are on vacation in the UP right now. I am so jealous! I'd give anything to be there, too.

No kidding, I'm envious, too!

For all that some people rag on Detroit, they might be surprised that those pictures were taken just four hours north.

My people came from Detroit (I was born there) and despite many of the problems of the city itself and the economic situation the state is in, it's a great area and I love Michigan.

Oh, it is. I long for the water and the evergreens. And I'll take a little isolation for awhile, too.

The cold isn't any worse to me than this endless summer of 100 degree days. In fact, I could rock a wood stove better than trying to stay cool. Thirty-three years in Texas (which I also like, btw) and I've never gotten acclimated to the hot summers.

Fall up there is really beautiful and a pleasant season. But yeah, kind of a long winter.
