A fair amount of time after the last letter, another was written.

Dear Jack,
I have only just Now recieved your Letter, and must sadly Inform you, as you Quite Probably have realised, I am not in England. Nor am I headed in that direction, unfortunately. It has been, however, a Blessing to hear from you, and I am indescribeably relieved by news of your freedom. I cannot believe your Luck as far as meeting Swan; chances such as Those are quite Unusual. Nevertheless, I am extremey Grateful that you are safe. I miss you Terribly. I now wish this war had never started, I had never joined, and Oh for an end to this Business.
My sincerest Apologies that I am not aboard the Pearl with you and U.J., plase inform both of them I miss them as well. And alas, I see I must buy  a new wardrobe. Again. Ah well.
I have little news for you; less still that is encouraging. My arm aches in the damp weather, as newer injuries not long healed are won't; doubtless it wil fade to a dull twinge, as the others have. I miss my berth upon the Pearl, and the company o be had there. God willing this will soon be over and I shall be quit of England and her bloody stupid interests. God, how I miss you.
I haven't set foot Ashore in months- normally not at all a problem, as one can find all sorts of amusing conversaton aboard the Pearl, but by god the men here are dull-witted and irritating. Turners, the lot of them. Though I must say the bo'sun is a Fine Man, and quite reminds me of old Josh, God rest him. It is quite comforting, though sometimes I find myself expecting to hea Gibbs' growl as he tells his wild Stories, and am always disappointed when it is absent.
Other than that, however, I am dreadfully bored of my company aboard this Vessel. As I do not wish to play Idiotic gambling games with the men, I am left to my own devices when not attending my Duties.
All in all, I miss you and cannot wait to be home aboard the Pearl on warmer waters. I am fairly miserable here, but Healthy enough.

yrs.,
