Uh... I don't know... Probably just food. I can't think of anything special that like... doesn't require batteries or something. And batteries would run out.

Oh, definitely both. There's dangerous reefs all around the island! Not to mention predators on the island... cannibals, maybe sometimes pirates... that kind of stuff.
