Ravens are rare, these ways. They have quite the vocal range and can make all sorts of noises. When I was in Alaska, I was lucky to hear one make the water drop noises.
So lovely, I love your descriptions! Do you know about the Cornell Lab of Ornithology? They have a great website and resources. Here is a link to some sounds of the common raven:
Tthank you. I had heard about them and was thinking about my plan from when I was 18, of going to Cornell when I was older and more mature, with some more life experience, and thinking working with them on a citizen science project might be an amusing way to live that.
I remember the ravens in the Tower of London during our honeymoon. Birds the size of miniature poodles ... LARGE miniature poodles, as evidenced by being larger (but not by much) than a miniature poodle that another tourist had on a leash. Dog was hanging back as the person approached one raven, which was clearly eyeing the dog... and the dog clearly thought the raven was thinking 'lunch'...
Big freaking birds.
(in other amusements, I can't find it again, but I recently saw a photograph of two crows, with the caption 'attempted murder'...)

Carrion crows are huge, delightful birds.
