The Little Things in Life: Babies [2/2]
#39 Hankyung/Donghae (All the People)
36/100

October came quickly and soon Hankyung found himself on the way to Kibum's house to see his new godson Donghae.
The minute he entered his house he was greeted with an assortment of flowers and gifts decorating almost every table available.
"Hello? Anyone home?" Hankyung asked.
"In the living room!" Miyoung replied.
She smiled serenely from the living room couch and nodded quietly towards a small crib beside her. Kibum was currently peering over it, love in his eyes.
"He's adorable." whispered Hankyung as he took in his first glance of Donghae, his eyes getting a bit teary.
"He takes after his mother." Kibum murmured back.
"I bet he's going to be quite the lady killer when he gets older, just like you are." Hankyung chuckled softly.
Kibum only smirked. "Would you like to hold him?"
Hankyung held his arms out and Kibum carefully placed a swaddled Donghae into them.
Donghae blinked his huge brown eyes up at Hankyung and Hankyung swore he lost a part of his heart to him.
"You have that effect on people already. Just like your dad, hm?" Hankyung whispered to Donghae.
Donghae rewarded him by slowly reaching a tiny hand up to Hankyung's hand and grasping a finger.
In that one hold, all Hankyung could feel was pure sweet love.
"Of all the people in the world," Hankyung said softly for Donghae's ears only, "You are definitely the cutest. I am proud to be a part of your life."

Donghae's birth turned out to be a life changing event for Hankyung. He quit his dead end job at the office and started his own business: a daycare for parents like Kibum and Miyoung who both needed to work full time, for a price that was just right. He named it 'Under the Sea Daycare', a name inspired by his love of the sea and dedicated also to his godson.

At first his daycare only had one charge and that was Donghae. But Hankyung was not to be discouraged. Being discouraged instead of being optimistic is something Hankyung had seen many people fall prey to and he refused to be like them. He poured blood, sweat, and tears into making his daycare one that parents could trust and afford. Eventually, thanks to Kibum's wonderful PR skills and Miyoung's group of friends and new mothers, he began to gain more clients. With more clients coming in he soon was unable to manage all the babies and toddlers by himself. His roommate, Ryeowook jumped at the chance to help him and quit his bookstore job to work fulltime at Under the Sea.

Eight years passed and Under the Sea grew from a humble daycare to five daycares across the city. Though Donghae was now too old for daycare he often begged his parents to drop him off there on holidays so he could help his godfather. At first Kibum and Miyoung refused, worrying that he would be more of a hindrance to Hankyung, but when Hankyung heard of this he was more than happy to let Donghae pass a few hours (supervised of course) at Under the Sea. Often Donghae would sit in Hankyung's mostly unused office, coloring pictures to paste on the walls or running to fetch something for Ryeowook or Hankyung.

"Why did you name this place 'Under the Sea'?" Donghae asked one day as he pasted a drawing of an alien octopus to Hankyung's desk.
Hankyung smiled at Donghae. "Do you really want to know?"
Donghae nodded.
"I named it for you."
Donghae's eyes grew wide. "For me?!"
"Yes, for you."
"But why?"
"Because," Hankyung said as he pulled Donghae into a hug.
"Of all the people in the world, you are my most special godson."
"Will I always be?" asked Donghae as he squeezed Hankyung tightly.
"You bet!"

Note: I was originally just going to lump this together with part one and make it a long one shot. But when I was writing it I found that it was perfect for prompt 39. So I made a twoshot. Actually I was just going to end at the part where Donghae holds Hankyung's finger, but it seemed an awkward place to end.... Hehe. Sigh, babies are the cutest~

pairing: hankyung/donghae, fandom: super junior, author: shinelikethesky, type: twoshot
