I had a rant here about sci-fi always comparing humans to robots to ask, "What really makes us human?" But I got bored of it. It wasn't nearly as good as my bit on sock buying on facebook anyway

I've been reading up on my Douglas Hofstadter for a good heapin helpin on thinkin about consciousness, with regards to computers and more generally the self-representative ability of powerful-enough formal systems (like the whole numbers). I would highly recommend "I am a Strange Loop."
