I have noticed a disturbing trend as of late. It is the trend towards the anti-hero. Long gone are the days of the righteous knight (good) who slays the dragon (evil) to save the princess (virtue). Rather do we have the bandit (badass) who slays the villain (misunderstood) and saves his girlfriend (hott and maybe still virtue). And this says ( Read more... )

This is not to cast aspersions on the characters of those who prefer grayer roleplaying stuff. I am mostly trying to focus on popular media, rather than roleplaying games. (To others: they and I were just talking about this via e-mail chain.) Despite my willingness to complain, I certainly understand the desire to play out more complex games, and since one's morality is an important decision in roleplaying, I can see how one wouldn't want it to be so cut and dry.
