[Don't mind a bright blue eye staring closely at the book. In a moment, it pulls away to reveal the young man it belongs to.]

Is this thing on? [He leans in to tap firmly at the book.] Yes? No? Whatever. The quicker someone points me in the direction of the exit, the better. I've got more important things to do than sit around here twiddling my ( Read more... )

I won't tell you that there's no way to escape, but I will tell you that if you try to go over the wall, you'll just be transported back without your memories. You'll get them back, but those few days without them could be dangerous if you have any secrets to keep.

So plan your escape carefully, okay?

[Big smile.]

How the hell would losing my memory expose my secrets?

Because a memory can come back without you realizing how important it is. What if you had a tattoo and you let people see it, but forgot that it marked you as a criminal? That sort of thing.

Really, think it through.

Huh. I guess you do have a point. Not that I've got any dangerous secrets.

Wish I could tell you it was that easy. But you can't really escape from this place.

I don't think you've tried everything, then.

I prefer not to try. Who knows what happens when you reach the boundaries, or what might lurk beyond them?

[She would rather not risk running into another world-eating monster.]

I doubt there's anything out there that could scare me.

[There's a smile from Sandra as manages to get the journal to function like Dante's.]

Yes, it appears you've managed to get it working.

[There's a brief pause as she looks up and around. This poor lass is wandering outside of the barracks.]

I'm afraid I haven't seen anyone of that description, yet.

[Don't mind his smirk, Sandra.]

That's alright. I don't really want her to be here, anyway. She'd probably complain up a storm.

I do, if they don't think they need to shoot at me if I don't do what they want.

J-just... don't cause any destruction to the Keep, okay? You'll only pay for it later.

I may not have a scar on my nose, but if you found a way out of here, I think we would all prefer if you shared it.

[A considered pause.]

I'm Chloe. If you have any questions about this place, I'll do my best to answer.

Why, what're they gonna do if I cause a little chaos?

I wouldn't leave everyone here. Unless they're weird and want to stay.

Nice to meet ya, Chloe. I'm Dante.

[Chloe's eyes narrow slightly, her tone slightly suspicious, but humoring.]

Define... 'little'?

[Another short pause.]

What kind of chaos can you create, anyway? If you cause any destruction to the Keep, or its inhabitants, there will be a public punishment that could range from a wide variety of things. N-no one's allowed to interfere...

[A chill courses through her, and Chloe shudders. The was the headsman moved towards her. Appeared in more than one form. Stopped her from going to him.]

Whatever it will be... it won't be pleasant.

[A small smile.]

Good to know.

Nice to meet you, too.

I can break things pretty easily. Or blow them up, if I've got the right stuff.

I dunno how I feel about being punished in public. That sorta thing should be done in private. [It's possible he's not talking about the same kind of punishment.]

You know, you kind of remind me of someone.

[There's humor in his gaze--and open sky behind him. Yep. Dastan is on the roof again.]

So, what's your great escape plan? Care to share? I... don't recommend scaling the Keep walls. While relatively easy and lacking in the excitement scale... not so fun when you dissolve into dust on the other side.

That so?

[Good choice in spots to chill, bro.]

...Well, damn. I didn't think it'd be that easy, but I didn't think it'd be that hard.

[He grins.]

Honestly, I didn't think it'd be that easy--or hard--either. I have a bit of a knack for getting out of tight situations, but so far everything here has gotten the better hand. I'm determined to find an exit, however, so if you care to work together--share information on what decidedly does not work...

[He winces a bit.]

I definitely suggest not going over the walls. Even death here does not seem permanent, however. You'll wake with no clothing and no memory of who you are or why you're here, though the memories come back after a while. It's a strange place, this. I think you'll see what I mean.

I don't usually work with anyone, but sure. Why the hell not. If it gets me out of here quicker, then I'll try it.

I heard about the no memory thing. Not sure how I feel about waking up naked. I guess it depends on who's there when I wake up.
