Bachelor's Degree Dilema

I had a realization. As of December 6th, my thesis will be completed and I will be finished with my B.A. in history.
I will still have a semester to finish my Art minor meaning I won't graduate officially until May but this is a major life hurdle.

Do you ever look back and remember when you're younger you never imagine you will obtain the next life ( Read more... )

I've a year and a half to go before I'm done my B.A., but right now I'm planning on shipping myself off to grad school after I graduate, just because I can't think of what else to do with myself.
Your experience might be different, but for me, it was like, since about grade five, school was just a steady stream of things you had to doin order to get to the next level:
-learn to keep a neat, tidy notebook in elementary school so you will succeed in high school
-learn study habbits, work ethic, and the tools to write a paper/lab report/whatever in high school to do well in college/univeristy
-learn to write a decent paper so you can get a job/go to grad school
Which makes sense in theory, I suppose, but it just goes on and on until you get so caught up on doing well at each step (do well in high school so you can go to university, do well in university so you can go to grad school), that you never bother to think about what you're going to do with all the things they teach you.
It's scarey stuff, I tells ya

SO SCARY! Ugh. I'm thinking grad school cause I have nothing to do but I don't actually know if I want to go. It's all very muddled.

Lindsay Antos? This is you, right? I'm Sarah from BBST back in the day...and this is random for sure! But I graduated last June with the same thoughts and I still have them. The way I figure it is little steps: doing different work for short periods of time, trying to figure out what I want out of work and life, and meeting people and making ends meet. It's OK to not know. Some opportunity will crop up.
Where are you at school, even?
Best of luck on those choices,
Sarah

Sarah!!!
Hey, how are you?!
I'm at Lewis and Clark in Portland. And yeah, just trying to figure out "what's next." I'm sure it will all work out!
Thanks for your wise words, very good to hear what people are up to after college... very much should be watching The Graduate.
