Awareness Versus Progress

May 10, 2008 18:20

In my adolescence I formed the belief that awareness was always the first step in personal growth; that without awareness no progress could be made. This core belief of mine has strongly shaped my interactions with people, especially when they needed guidance. People have thanked me for encouraging their awareness, but some of these same people ( Read more... )

Indeed. I'm aware intellectually but I feel that my intuition is stronger.

Humanity as a collective is lacking intuition, and people that have both intellect and intuition are rare, so you are certainly needed in this world.

I encouraged people to chart their own paths, but the presumption by which I was operating and that I had unintentionally hidden from myself was that those paths always had to begin with awareness; I believed that there was no path of personal growth at all without awareness first. It was such an axiomatic belief for me that I never thought to question it, but unlike other axiomatic beliefs that I had held and questioned though, this one had not been indoctrinated into me in my childhood; I had formed it from my own personal observations. It's not very often that one discards core beliefs, and I can honestly say that I relish the experience of excising a core belief. I don't think that anything will match the day that a young Catholic boy I used to be discarded his belief in God, and felt empowered by the act. (I have since transitioned from that atheism to something that I call quasitheism.)

It is easy to imagine the real smile on your face represented by your smiley. I added you to my Friends List as well.

I also added Pesh.

Your user icon is just too damn sexy...

When I was young, I never understood my reaction to Darkness from the movie, Legend.

It is quite clear to me now.

My incubus icon is a painting called Touches by one of my favorite artists, Boris Vallejo. The incubus of "Western" culture used to be my favorite mythological creature, but I think I have graduated to the Japanese version of an incubus, a shokushuma. Shokushuma are basically incubi, but with multiple penisoid tentacles. If I had at least 7 penisoid tentacles, I could use 4 of them as bondage restraints, and 3 to penetrate all three of a girl's fuckable holes at once.

At first I was surprised that an image search for erotic pictures of a coupling between Darkness and Lily produced nothing, but then I realized that the movie pre-dated the web. If that movie had come out today, the web would be rife with such images.

I have been an intuitive all my life. I can quickly sum up a person or a situation and know where to go from there. I admire your insight and willingness to accept that not everyone operates from "step 1" so to speak. I work in psychiatry and let me tell you, you have to know how to get in through the back door often to reach some people who are suffering. Emotions can be so fragile that if you push too hard they will spiral down (not that you pushed). I love to find out what makes people tick lol!

"...to know how to get in through the back door"

That is very valuable knowledge.

"...if you push too hard they will spiral down (not that you pushed)."

I have pushed too hard, trying to ram through the front door of intellect. I have caused downward spirals. I try to keep my newfound understanding regarding intuitive people and progress in mind when interacting with people who are primarily intuitive.
