see for yourself

I believe ...

it is tragic when we base
our beliefs on statistics
rather than real
experience and real
faces.

- today i saw faces.
if you think and justify in numbers, may you see the faces behind those numbers soon.

i agree with that almost completely, i mean yeah when we don't know a lot about something statistics can give us an idea about it right? but isnt that just making your once objective view about this something biased from the get-go?

i think stereotypes work like statistics, only worse

ive seen a quote like that b4 in revolution on canvas, maybe did you read that and thats what inspired the post?

but yeah, this was a cool post it made me think, thanks

I like the last thing you write. though, i do agree that the statistics are useless without the experiences or at least the knowledge of the stories behind the numbers.

i mean who can grasp. . .

3.1 million HIV/AIDS deaths in 2003 (2.3 million of those are from Sub-Saharan Africa)

4.9 million people were infected with HIV in '03 (3.1 million of those are in Sub-Saharan Africa)

39.4 million people live with HIV/AIDS with 25.4 million of them in Sub-Saharan Africa.

(these #'s are from AIDS Epidemic Update: December 2004, UN-AIDS)
