Girls have more fun than guys.

With an accepted likelihood of over-generalization, here's a short list:

• Girls really enjoy looking pretty. Sure, guys can and should do their best to look good, but I don't think we enjoy it like girls do. A girl can dress up in seriously hundreds of different ways. The variety of types of garments available for

LOL, I think that's all pretty much on target, though I can't say I've ever looked at pregnancy as a benefit of being female... but it is in some ways, I guess. I think it is often much easier for mothers to connect with their children, because of that natural bond.

I've always been very glad I wasn't born a guy, though there are still things that occasionally make me envy males:

-guys can take their shirts off in hot weather
-guys get to ask girls out... yes, it's a scary thing to do, but (unless very forward-thinking), we girls have to sit around and wait for the guy to call - or reject a guy we never would have asked out, had we been in charge of the initial move
-guys aren't expected to shave their legs. A face covers less space, and a guy can always grow a beard
-guys can always fall back on flowers/chocolate as cliche yet acceptable presents for women... what are we supposed to give you?

I hope you don't mind me commenting (I found you through robkeeney's journal).

I think that most of those benefits you mentioned are good reasons to enjoy being a girl...well, except for that whole pregnancy thing, which really isn't much fun. : )

But there are things that make it less fun being a girl.

For example, emotions are such a pain for girls. Everything seems to be tied to emotion, and it can be really tricky sorting all that out.

Girls are much more complex emotionally speaking; one thing that makes me happy one day leaves me cold the next.

Girls are required to look good. A guy can go out looking stubbly and a little unkempt, and no one cares; girls are kind of expected to always look polished.

Guys can buy big shoes easily; as a big-footed girl, I envy you guys!

But all in all, I like my gender just fine. : )
