Character Information
Name: Brittany S. Pierce
Canon Origin/Series: Glee
School Year: 5th
Gender: Female
Age: 15
Out of school living location: Barnstaple, England
Blood status: Muggleborn

Personality: Brittany is pretty much the definition of a CloudCuckooLander. Most of the time she's off in her own little world, where ducks live in hats, dolphins are just gay sharks, and the square root of four is rainbows. It's okay, they know her there. However, despite her dreaminess, Brittany isn't the ephemeral loner sort. On the contrary, she's very social, especially given her cheerleader status, which makes her part of the reigning caste at her high school. She claims to have made out with the majority of the boys at school, as well as a decent number of girls. She's very friendly and flirty, and quite comfortable with her sexuality.

Despite being your stereotypical cheerleader in most other respects (dumb, blonde, promiscuous), Brittany is possibly the sweetest character on the show. True, she may take part in some typical cheerleader nastiness from time to time (defacing yearbook photos, making fun of Rachel), but she does it mostly because it's fun, or to please her bff and probable love interest Santana than out of any sense of maliciousness. Even though she only joined the Glee club initially as part of a plot by the cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester to destroy Glee club from the inside, she has no real desire to see the club destroyed, as she actually has a lot of fun singing and dancing with the other club members. But when people are down, you can count on her to be there for them in her own special way. When Kurt's father is hospitalized after a severe heart attack, Brittany offers him a book report she did about heart attacks, "to give to the doctor."

More of her personality is revealed as the series explores her relationship with Artie. She initially asks Artie out to make her not-girlfriend Santana jealous, after Santana told her she was not in love with her, and would rather compete in the club's duet competition with Mercedes. However, Artie breaks up with her after realizing that she was essentially using him. Brittany tells him that she genuinely wanted to be with him, and seems quite upset about accidentally hurting him. When the two later get back together, it actually becomes (arguably) one of the sweetest relationships on the show. She becomes terribly upset when she thinks she's lost Artie's lucky comb (essentially a Magic Feather to give her confidence as lead dancer), even more so than about the fact that he thought she was cheating on him.

Canon Background: Brittany is introduced in the second episode of the first season of Glee, as one of the cheerleaders Sue Sylvester sends to infiltrate and bring down the glee club. Even after all three of them begin to enjoy being in the club on its own merits, Sue still occasionally assigns them missions in an attempt to bring the glee club down and restore their budget to her Cheerios. However, Brittany is just a little bit incompetent at espionage, and her efforts fail. That and she doesn't really want to see the club disbanded, as she has a lot of fun.

Brittany acts as sort of a sidekick to Santana, especially after she becomes head cheerleader when Quinn's pregnancy is revealed and she is removed from the squad. Initially it seems as though she and Santana deliberately act as fetish fuel for the guys, making out while they look on, especially since it seems like she and Santana have slept with most of the school, together and separately. However, it's later revealed that it isn't really an act. They're often seen holding pinkies and cuddling together, and Brittany reveals that she's slept with Santana alone on at least one occasion. In season two, Santana not only declines Brittany's offer to sing a duet together, but also tells her that she's not in love with her, causing Brittany to begin dating Artie in an attempt to make Santana jealous.

Brittany gets her solo debut in Season two, which is when she really begins to come into her own as a character, getting more lines, spotlight, and backstory than she did in season one.

Background (AU!Canon; HP): Growing up, Brittany lived a fairly normal, uneventful life with a mother, a father, one little sister, and a cat. She went to school, and while she never did very well in classes, she was very popular and had many friends. Teachers liked her because of her sweet demeanor, and because she really did try her very best. And her efforts were always very... creative, if 100% factually incorrect.

The summer after Brittany turned 11, she got a very strange letter in the mail, explaining that she was a witch and had been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Her parents, after getting past their initial confusion, were quite supportive of their daughter, and willingly accepted this explanation as to why Brittany was so different.

At Hogwarts, like at her primary school, Brittany immediately made friends, tried hard at her lessons, but ultimately had no real success (except unexpectedly in charms-- she seemed to have a knack for figuring just how to wave her wand). Although she came from a muggle background, she experienced no difficulty adjusting to magical life, as she simply took every unusual happening in stride. Teachers still liked her for her sweetness, even though their lessons always just went straight over her head. She also quite enjoys flying, except for when she occasionally forgets to come down.

How would your character fit in to each House?

gryffindor; Not a great fit. Brittany's brave enough to perform in front of an audience, but she's a leader, not a follower. She doesn't like to be the center of attention. She also seems to have a rather ambivalent moral compass.

hufflepuff; Despite seeming to operate on a different plane than everyone else, Brittany works very hard and is quite determined. She never lets her lack of intelligence get her down, and always keeps moving forward.

ravenclaw; Not in the least bit book smart or particularly interested in the pursuit of knowledge, but she is very creative. She has a knack for visual arts and design, as well as performing arts.

slytherin; She lives in the moment, and her plans for the future are not so much ambitions as vauge dreams. She doesn't, however, see anything wrong with doing questionable things to achieve her own ends, unless her actions end up hurting others.

Sample Journal Entry: Has anyone seen a pair of gold dangly earrings? I put them on my cat, because we were playing dress-up, but he wandered off. I wanted to wear those tonight. If you see him, could you tell him to bring them back?
