Deep Breath [Narrative, Update]

*Breathe.*

*Samus sat in the center of her living room, eyes closed, legs folded beneath her. Placing her palms flat on the floor on either side of herself, she slowly lifted off the floor, letting recent events wash over her.*

*Her little visitor had left again just half an hour before. One of the girls who had sold her cookies after her arrival, Beth, had returned with questions and an irrepressible spirit. She seemed curious about everything, and although Samus had been wary with her answers, the girl had seemed neither disappointed nor deterred. She was uncannily insightful, a trait which had impressed her foreign hostess.*

*Push. Bit by bit, she shifts position, bending her arms to lean forward, lifting her body and straightening out from upright into a handstand.*

*Beth had also been a source of insight into the locals, and of advice for fitting in. Apparently, buying those cookies had announced her presence, and curiosity about her reclusive self was apparently running high. The girl's suggestion for allaying their interest was elegantly simple: go grocery shopping and drop hints about being an artist. It was, apparently, an excellent excuse for all manner of odd behaviors.*

*Hand over hand, she began to climb; first lifting herself onto the coffee table, then onto the arm of the sofa, then along it to the back, using her legs to balance the shifts of her weight.*

*She would have to shower and put on something suitably artistic to support the ruse--she had shopping to do, and no idea when the store closed. And, she had to admit to herself, something fresher than ration bars would be a nice change of pace.*
