So, it's been so long since I've updated, I have so much to say but at the same time, there's so much to say I don't really feel like saying any of it.
Highlights:
Had a band concert last Thursday night. The concert was fine, even though I missed the entrance for one of my solos (concerts always make me go wiggy, I've never missed the entrance before!). But luckily it was just a 2 eighth note pick up that I missed. I came in fine on the downbeat. BAD: I left me music folder at the venue, in the warm-up room. The folder basically had all of my personal music that I like to play as well as all my band music in it. And some of the band music didn't even belong to our band, it was borrowed from the University of Waterloo and each piece was individually barcoded. So I had a week of going nuts looking for this folder, emailing people about it and stuff. But luckily when I got to band last night, the folder was there. Some nice person probably grabbed it from the warm-up room and put it in the rehearsal room on campus. So that was a great relief.
Got kinda drunk on Friday night, which I don't even like doing, but that pretty much prevented me from wanting to drink at all on St. Patty's. Jeff and I were supposed to go to a kegger (that we found out at about 6 pm that it started at 3 pm) on Saturday, but right before we left I checked my email and saw that I was invited to a party at my boss' house. So we decided to stop by there quickly, only for a planned 30 - 45 min.
Turns out we were there for about 2 hours. It was a lot of fun. Ryan (my boss) is a really funny guy. And he has a really sweet dog. At one point he decided to show us how good a howler she is, so he and she were just howling together for about 4 minutes. It was great. But then his wife took the dog away from him later that night when we were watching the shoot-out of the Leafs game and Sundeen (?) got the point for the Leafs and Ryan lifted the dog up and shook her in celebration. But still, it was an entertaining night.
I think he wanted all of us to go downtown to some bars, but no one really wanted to do that, and since Jeff and I were going to a kegger he almost came along. But he said he's only go if Megan and Marjorie did, which they wouldn't. So no, although it was close, my 33 year old assistant professor boss did NOT come to the kegger with us. Even though you could tell he really wanted to show up, throw his hands into the air and yell "KEGGERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!"
I just hope it's OK that I brought Jeff, since he wasn't explicitly invited. I think it was OK. But the poor guy got a bloody nose in the middle of the evening and had to spend a good deal of time in the bathroom. That really sucks.
ANYWAY ... the kegger was pretty fun, even though it's not my kind of thing at all. I was really surprised by how many people I knew there. It was a neat party. All the profits went to sending one of the housemates to India to raise AIDS awareness ... good cause.
Then the NEXT day was the College Royal ultimate tournament. GREAT idea to have the entire team at a kegger the night before, eh? It was interesting. There turned out only being three teams. It was kinda a strange tournament as far as how it was set up, but anyway we ended up getting second place (a BLUE ribbon!). It was fun. My first wipe out though, I landed on a patch of ice and slid for a while, resulting in a massive bruise covering my knee ... pretty much in its entirety and a gash on my hand. Stupid field that was half mud half ice. (HIGHLIGHT: at the end of the game we lost, we were shaking hands with the other team, and one of their guys shook my hand, looked at me, and said "you CARRIED them." which is completely UNTRUE, but it was an amazing compliment to get!)
But it was nice to play again with the team, since I didn't get to for our intramural playoffs due to a technicality. (stupid paperwork).
What was also fun was when I got to the kegger on Saturday night, a lot of the guys on my team were already really drunk, and they were REALLY free with compliments to me! I got "LINDSAY (the 'allstar')" written on my beer cup! It was fun.
Work has kinda been ... not fun lately, but it's work. The semester's almost over. I'm almost done with week 10 out of 12. Then I just have to figure out when I'm going to stop working.
I just want to go home and sleep/watch LOST/Casino Royale.
I miss you all so much.
