Finally settling in

Before people misinterpret what I'm saying in this entry, I want to point out that I am NOT complaining. I just had a GREAT summer, and I am by no means bitching about how it went down. With that in mind, here's my rambling:

Starting at the end of last April, with the conclusion of finals, I started packing. I packed up my life at 3 Carnaby Crescent in Guelph, put most of my stuff in storage, and then moved back home to 27 Landau. I was there for about a week and a half, preparing and packing for my upcoming 2 month long trip working on Tree Swallows. Somewhere in there, as well, I packed for and then went on a trip to St. Louis for my cousin's wedding. When I got back from that, I had about 2 days before I left for Guelph. I was in Guelph for two days before we hit the road, leaving Guelph on the morning of Saturday, May 19th. From that day on, we didn't spend more than 5 days in any one place (5 days in New York and Montana, 2 or 3 at all other sites) as we travelled from Guelph to

1. Lenoir City, TN
2. Waynesboro, VA
3. Ithaca, NY
4. Allendale, MI
5. Saukville, WI
6. Ames, IA
7. Bighorn, WY
8. Monarch, MT
9. Red Deer, AB
10. Saskatoon, SK
11. Brandon, MB
and 12. Thunder Bay, ON

before arriving back in Guelph. It was really hard work, and we didn't have a single day off for the entire trip, but we had shitloads of fun at times, too.

Then I spent a day in Guelph helping Megan settle back in, before spending one night in Oshawa with Jeff and heading home to get there in time for my first full-fledged WSU game of the summer. I'll admit I was worried that no one would care that I was back in town, since I had been gone for two months and hadn't really kept in touch well, but I got such a warm welcome. I can't describe how amazing it felt to be back with the people that I feel like I belong with. Coming home felt so good. I was so happy.

But by the time I got home I had a little over a week to pack up my life at 27 Landau (like I ever really unpacked from the trip anyway), because we sold our house and were moving (THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone that helped. We never would have been able to do it without you guys!). BUT, our new house wasn't fully built by the time we moved out, so we actually spent a little over week living out of a room at the Best Stay Inn on Rt. 1. I pretty much lived out of my car at that point because, let's face it, that was what I was used to. So I went back and forth between the inn and Amy's, but it was a good time.

Then we moved in to 7 Messenger, and I was there for less than a week before I came up to Guelph/Oshawa for ~5 days to look for a place to live in the fall and to visit Jeff. Jeff surprised me on the final night of that visit by revealing his plans to come home with me the next day and spend the rest of the week visiting me at home before flying back that Friday. So we drove home on Tuesday and got home (as planned!) in time for the game, hung out Wed, Thurs, Fri (poor Jeff patiently sat through HOURS of saber sessions with Ben), before Jeff flew home on Friday and Abby, Ben and I departed on Saturday (August 18th) for a 3 day drive to Boulder, CO.

By that point, I had gotten pretty good at living out of and packing up a car, and I've always loved long distance driving. I wish I could have been a little more fun on the trip, but I had a lot on my mind (most of which has since worked out), and I feel like I was a bit of a party pooper, but hopefully everyone still had fun.

We got to Boulder on Monday afternoon, and I stayed there Tuesday and flew home on Wednesday. I spent my last week home and the following Wednesday I left home to move back to Guelph for at least one more semester. After a couple of days of moving/unpacking I finally got a little settled in. There are still a few items in my car that I should probably move in, but old habits die hard I guess.

So there you have it, this summer I did not spend more than a week and a half in any single place. It was a really great time, but I definitely felt like it took its toll by the end of the summer, but that's probably because I had a few other issues stressing me out.

Now that I'm settled in Guelph, I definitely can't wait to be back home. Hypocritical, eh?

Sorry about the rambling. But you know me.
