[007 ☿] Dream a little dream

[It's been a rainy dream, as Mizuno Ami (aged seven) walks home. Her backpack looks quite plump and full, probably due to the extra books she brings to have something to focus on during lunch

[There's a tall gangly man all in black sitting on the swing next to you--was he there a moment ago?]

You have to put your whole body into it. Lean back when your legs go up, lean forward when your legs go down.

[She's really not sure if he was there before or not; he's there now, and that's what matters to the dream. Ami turns her head sharply to look at Jack, and bobs her head in a nod before doing as he says. She leans back and forward with the rhythm of the swing, and starts to make slow progress.]

It's moving! It's going faster!

[He smiles crookedly.] Better, isn't it?

[He decides he wants to swing too. He has the opposite problem from you, however: he's too tall. If he tried to swing, he'd end up slamming his legs into the ground. He frowns in thought for a bit. Then he gets up and starts tossing the swing over the top bar.]

[waterfell]

Mm! There's more push!

[She swings without looking beside her, until she notices the clang of the other swing against the bar.]

People can't reach it if it's that high!

[bot_builder]

[And he should care because...? He rolls his eyes.] It's not that high. If I don't raise it up a bit I can't use it at all.

[Hmm. Ah! Compromise!]

When you're done, can you put it back, please?

[bot_builder]

[Well, he doesn't want you whining at him... He decides to humor you.] Alright, that shouldn't be too hard.

[When he's satisfied with the new height, he joins you in swinging.]

Thank you! [Oblivious, apparently, to the fact he's only placating her, Ami smiles brightly.]

Let's go really high, both of us!

[bot_builder]

[He grins at you.] Let's see if you can keep up!

[waterfell]

[He looks like a big kid; she probably can't. But!]

I'll try my best! [It'll be fun just to go as fast and high as she can, even if it doesn't match him.]

Sorry, was having dinner

[He laughs. You're fun. He didn't play much with other kids even when he was one. It just usually ended badly for him.]

Heh. [His grin turns sheepish and his swinging slows.] Yeah, I guess... I never played much with others when I was a kid. It's one reason I built my bots...

[It's the type of thing Ami might do, too: build herself companions to ease the loneliness. It makes her ask the so-simple, too-simple question:]

Are you lonely?

[He fidgets uneasily.] N-not really. Not anymore, I mean. I probably was as a kid. I guess. I mean...

[Laughs nervously and shrugs.] I really don't like people all that much. I just... don't like them. Most of them are stupid, unreasonable, sappy... [And the ones that aren't don't like me.]

Then let's play together. Then neither of us will be lonely. [It seems the reasonable solution to her.]
