[He's fascinated by the table. It appears to be some sort of mechanism, and he loves mechanical things. Oh, it's a portal of some kind! Neat! Wait, he doesn't remember going through the portal. He'd wanted to examine it!]
[And now strange creatures are staring at him. He glares back.] What are you looking at?
[Candy was.... stuck here. She didn't even remember how she had wound up on Marapozsa Street this time. The first time she didn't like to recall too much, but this time had her a little worried. Still, she tried to act like she belonged here. Just to keep the people from lashing out at her again. Let's see how long that lasts...
Not long apparently. Not if whoever was stuck inside here with her was going to draw attention to himself, and ultimately her.] Do you always antagonize the locals of places you've never been before?
[He doesn't like people staring at him. Acting like he's weird or something. He's perfectly normal! He eyes you petulantly.] I'm just asking a question. Anyway, they started it.
[She doesn't care how he eyes her right now, she's more watching the others to make sure they keep back. So she takes Jack by the hand and pulls him down a small side alley that seems to be empty. Maybe they can hide out a bit longer.] They're looking at the empty space above your head, clearly. They don't like strangers so don't antagonize them, because I don't know about you but I'm not in the mood to get attacked today.
[He's used to being dragged places by people, but he decides to protest on principle anyway--until you mention the attacking business. Now he's worried.] Because... I'm not wearing a hat? They attack people that don't wear hats? [Ok, maybe panicked is a better term.] That seems a little drastic!
[Candy watches the street a little longer. They seemed to have quieted down again at least. For now. So she lets out a sigh of relief and leans against the wall, the edge easing out of her voice as she nods her head.] They're not hats, though. They're dreams. And in here they always want to see your dreams.
[Ok, he's curious enough to ignore the panic for now.] Sleep-dreams, or want-dreams? Does it matter? Are they the actual dreams, or hat representations of dreams? If they're the actual dreams, why don't we have them over our heads?
[Huh. Candy shrugged her shoulders to all of his questions.] Good questions. I'd ask the man who owns this room but... [She was almost positive he was dead. Mostly. She hoped.] I didn't get to ask these questions when I first came here.
Yeah. Fun, huh. [She smiles at him as she sits down to get comfy.] I'm hoping the exit reappears sometime soon again. [Though, if this is only a dream of the place they may be stuck indefinitely.]
[At least you seem friendly. That's something.] I'm not good at waiting indefinitely... [He fidgets.]
Do you have any idea about how the table works? Maybe I could build--no, I'd need stuff. Can't get stuff while I'm stuck in an alley. Hm. Do you at least know if it's mechanical or magical?

... [Then something horrible occurs to him.]
Do you know how to get out?

She shakes her head at the question.] I did. I've done it once before too, but the way out's not there. I don't know why, either.

[He gives a shaky laugh.] Well, that's not good. So what do we do? Just hide out in an alley forever?

Oh. I'm Jack Spicer, by the way.
