“Hyung, are you the one who did my homework last night?” Kyuhyun, who was waiting in front of Sungmin’s classroom since early in the morning, asked quickly.
Sungmin only shrugged. “Maybe?”
“I know it’s you. Thanks!” Kyuhyun grinned and had his arm around his hyung’s shoulder. Sungmin blushed a bit at the touch. “But why didn’t you do my Math too?”
“Why should I? You’re smarter than me at Math.”
“But you are mooorrree diligent than I am.”
“But too bad I wasn’t in the mood of doing Math last night. Now go back to your class and do it.” Sungmin stuck out his tongue and walked into his class. But instead, Kyuhyun followed him and sat on an empty chair before Sungmin’s seat. He then pulled out a notebook from behind his back.
“No. I want to do it here so you can correct me if ever I make mistakes.” Kyuhyun smirked.
Sungmin smacked him. “Hah, you’re a Math genius, aren’t you? Since when did you lose your annoying confidence?”
“Since that day when I found you in the music room.” Kyuhyun answered sadly. “I’m very confident that I’m your best friend and I can keep you safe forever, but that incident opened my eyes. I’m not even a good friend and I can’t protect you.”
“Ssh, Kyu. From now, I’ll forbid you to talk about that bullying incident.”
“Eh? Why?”
“Because that makes you guilty and sad. And I don’t want to remember it as well.”
Kyuhyun wondered how Sungmin could forget that. If Kyuhyun were him, he wouldn’t be able to. “…okay.” He then started to do his homework while Sungmin went to study.
“Minnie, can you explain me about this?” Donghae suddenly came and talked to Sungmin. He had cute appearance, handsome, and smiley face.
Sungmin took his glasses from his school bag. He smiled and later talked about stoichiometry and stuffs. Somehow, he didn’t like how Sungmin and that guy are being close even though the 3 of them knows he once rejected Sungmin. They also talked about things that are far from being familiar to him and some things he didn’t understand. So naturally, Kyuhyun would sometimes interrupt their conversation, but he would either just be waved off or Sungmin would just give him a one word answer which was very much to Kyuhyun’s dislike.
So Kyuhyun decided that he would leave the two alone, and at the same time, leaving his Math homework, which was also unfinished, on the table.
A few minutes later, Sungmin turned his head to ask Kyuhyun a question, when his best friend was nowhere to be found.
“Donghae, have you seen Kyuhyun?” Sungmin asked the other boy curiously. He didn’t notice that his best friend had left while they were talking, he must have been too engrossed with his work.
“Uhmm…no, Sungmin. I didn’t see Kyuhyun-sshi leave…sorry.” The Fish-loving boy said as he looked up from his Physics textbook. He reached over to the table where Kyuhyun sat and handed Sungmin a piece of paper, however.
Sungmin looked down at the paper, only to find that it was his best friend’s Math homework. Kyuhyun never leaves his Math work before class. Sungmin knew that he could be lax when it comes to homework, but he knew that his best friend would always be done with his homework before class. He never missed homework in his life, up until now. What confused him more was that the piece of paper was blank. Kyuhyun had left his homework unfinished.
Sungmin politely excused himself from studying with Donghae, and went through the halls looking for Kyuhyun. He peeked into the Chemistry Lab, which would probably be one of the last places to look for his best friend, but Sungmin looked anyway. However to his surprise, when he found his best friend, he was with Leeteuk, their school’s resident “Chemist” as the others would call him. He was one of the best Chemistry students in the campus, and Sungmin was quite jealous of him.
He wondered why Kyuhyun would be with Leeteuk, he knew well enough that they weren’t close, that they were merely acquaintances. Another reason why he was confused was because Kyuhyun knew that Leeteuk wasn’t exactly one of the persons Sungmin got along well with. He had not meant it in any offense to the much older chemistry student, but they were never really friends. True, Sungmin would hear that Leeteuk was a nice person from other people, but he had never experienced it himself, and it unnerved him a little that his best friend was alone with the older male.
“Aish, Sungmin! What the heck are you thinking? Why are you so concerned for Kyuhyun? Just return his Math homework to him and leave! Who cares about what Kyuhyun is doing? He’s a grown man, and he can handle himself! Why worry?” Sungmin mentally slapped himself for being so disturbed by how close they were.
So Sungmin tried to approach them calmly. “You left your homework, Kyu.”
Kyuhyun turned his head slightly. His expression somehow darkened when he saw Sungmin. “Ah, Lee Sungmin sshi. Hello~!” Leeteuk greeted him happily.
“Uh, yeah, hello.” Sungmin replied awkwardly. “I didn’t mean to interrupt your talk. I just got to give this back. Do your homework, Kyuhyun.”
The youngest boy took the paper and the notebook without words. Instead, Leeteuk was the one speaking. “No, it’s okay. Why don’t you join in? We have never talked, right?”
Sungmin wanted to decline and escape, but he didn’t like letting Kyuhyun and Leeteuk just alone in the lab. So he stayed there, listening to Leeteuk talking about random things while Kyuhyun did his Math homework on one of the tables there.
Few minutes later, the bell rang, telling the three students to go to their class hurriedly. “My class is on the seventh floor. I’ll go first. See you around, Kyuhyun ah, Sungmin sshi.” Leeteuk grinned and left. Sungmin smiled.
He barely knew Leeteuk, and they just talked today, but Sungmin felt comfortable around him. Sungmin felt like he could trust everything to the Chemist, like a son to his mom.
“Ah, have you finished, Kyu?”
“Almost. You can leave me, Hyung.”
“Why would I leave you?” Sungmin looked at Kyuhyun’s work. “Only two more questions. I’ll wait.”
After Kyuhyun’s done, they walked together because their classes were located on the same floor. Sungmin wanted to ask things about Leeteuk, like how he and Kyuhyun suddenly became close, what Kyuhyun felt for him, but Sungmin was hesitant. Kyuhyun might think that he was weird to have such an unreasonable curiosity.
“What do you think about Teuk hyung?” Unexpectedly, Kyuhyun was the one who asked, making Sungmin startled.
“Uh, he is nice?”
“Just nice?” Kyuhyun raised his eyebrow disapprovingly.
Sungmin then decided to tell Kyuhyun how he felt around Leeteuk. But Kyuhyun reacted way far from Sungmin’s expectation. “See? I know you will feel the same! I was planning to introduce him to you later.” Kyuhyun’s cold act disappeared to nowhere. He then talked happily about the Chemist, blabbered everything until they got to Sungmin’s class. “I’ll see you later during the break, Hyung!”
Sungmin frowned. Since that bullying accident, Kyuhyun never looked so cheerful like that.
Kyu doesn’t ‘like’ Leeteuk that way, right?
