- I am not satisfied with the epilogue. Link's bloodline is cursed for eternity by the god of darkness and he's just like "DERP HAPPY ENDO"?? When is he gonna... y'know... tell Zelda about it... btw all our descendents are damned. I meant to tell u earlier, sorry babe.
THATS THE OTHER THING LIKE.... one of the things i've always liked about Zelda is that it doesn't pair up Link and the Princess. She's just out of his reach y'know? Sometimes he has another girl he can get with and sometimes he just wanders off and is forgotten. I feel like this game was a lil more explicit about the romance than I would've liked though of course you can argue that makes later games MORE bittersweet because they can never be together again. But IDK, IDK.
- Big reveal at the end with Ghirahim was PERFECT tho. I spent the whole game wondering where this fucker came from and could not have been more satisfied with the answer. UGH WHAT A GREAT BADGUY.
- I never did end up really liking Fi until the very very end, at which point I went from not caring to being UPSET about her. But I think probably 90% of that is due to her theme from the soundtrack being
absolutely heartbreaking. I'm trying to come to terms with her precision and computer-like behavior as secondary to her nature as the servant of a time goddess; after all Ghirahim's behavior reflects the nature of his patron pretty well too. But couldn't she have been just a little bit... snarkier, or something? There were good moments at the beginning but after that she just launches into straight tutorial mode for the whole game unless you play Link as a complete moron and respond to all her questions with the worst possible answer. ...Maybe I should do that next time.
- I was disappointed that things in Skyloft never got very bad and nobody seemed to realize how much danger they were in, and I wish NPC dialogue had updated more. That said it's a nice change to see a god(dess) figure in a fictional world really DO STUFF and SACRIFICE THINGS to take care of her people. Also for some reason I didn't realize before that Hylia was specifically the Time Goddess and not a creator Goddess with timey-wimey powers.
- I kind of love how the Triforce fulfills Link's wish with the nearest material available... namely, a fucking temple. The Triforce dropped a temple out of the sky onto a badguy and squashed him to death, and it was awesome. Definitely my favorite use of the Triforce thus far.
- Dead people vanishing into puffs of light, on the other hand, may be one of my least favorite game tropes ever. Just... have them bury a body for fuck's sake.
Also, I've got to say, this game has bar none the best soundtrack of any Zelda game. No fucking lie,
these are some of the best boss battle themes ever.
Koloktos??? Demise??? Scaldera??? Everything about this game's soundtrack is amazin, but FUUUCK the boss themes are so good.
