Unconsciously she hears the first pebble click against the glass. The second one draws her confused attention, but she doesn't know what it is.
"Darius?"

Rap rap. This time it's his knuckles on the glass and not a pebble.

She stifles a shriek.
There's a man outside her window.
Then she recognizes him. Not a man, an angel.
Throwing open the window, she exclaims, "Are you trying to give me a heart attack?!"

"Anyways, you know me and front doors." Another big smile; it seems ages since he saw her last. "Hi."

Back through it-- he tosses over his shoulder a muttered-- "You know, you're lucky you're small"-- and then he's once more outside. The window has a corniced molding, and Gabriel crouches on this, ignoring the laws of physics that say his weight should break it, that say he shouldn't be able to find enough balance on such a small projection. The angel shrugs his shoulders and the tail of the coat hanging down behind him is now the tips of two folded wings, black feathers shifting just a bit with the breeze.
Gabriel smiles, pleased and full, breathing deeply of the night air. The moon is bright on his teeth and white shirt. He holds a hand out, through the window.
"Take my hand, Ynez."

She puts her hand in Gabriel's.
"Do you want me to climb out?"

His smile loses the hint of mischief, becomes just a full and happy yet almost-conspiratorial smile, smile between two friends, for what he gets to show her. "You know I won't let you fall."

Reaching out for him, she says, "But I've been climbing out bedroom windows for as long as I can remember. It's all good."
