Luna / Harry

He’d visit her often. At first it was only once or twice a month, to apologize for not being there when she was hit. Then it was three or four times a month, then once or twice a week. Soon he found himself visiting her everyday after work. Eventually he started visiting her during his lunch break. At some point, one of the medi-wizards in charge of Lockhart asked him if he planned on moving in. He only stared at her and informed her that he was there to visit Ms. Lovegood. The nurse nodded and asked if he’d ever come visit anyone else before waving him down the hall.

He sat there, next to her bed, and brushed out the long blond strands that erupted from her head and tended to obscure her face. “Luna?” he asked softly, leaning closer and blowing a strand of her off her lips. He thought she nodded at that. Harry cast the charm that would make her sit up and he slid into the bed behind her, calmly brushing her hair. “Guess what happened at work today?” he began, as he put down the brush so he could work his fingers through a particularly bad tangle. Her hair, just past her shoulders the day of the final battle was now near her waist. Harry talked idly and brushed it until it shone. Then he started to plait it into two pigtails that would hang down her back.

“And then Ron and Hermione came over. That’s why I wasn’t here for lunch.” He tugged Luna’s head slightly so she’d nod, “Their children are fine. Well, not their children. Hermione’s twins are fine and Ron’s doing a nice job of playing Daddy to them.” Luna nodded. Harry continued, “I tried to save Draco, after so many times of him saving my life, I tried to save his. Do you believe me Luna?” She nodded again and Harry finished the braid. “But just like you, I was there too late. I’m sorry Luna. Do you forgive me?” She nodded again. Harry pulled the other half of her hair into a tight ponytail and started to plait it.

“I didn’t know they had the new hexes. So many Order members can’t have children. It’s wrong, to do that to a man.” Luna agreed. “Hermione is looking for a way to counteract the curse that hit you. There’s an entire department dedicated to that.” Luna nodded. “Hermione’s research says that you’re in there, somewhere, but you can’t communicate. Well, you, Tonks, Percy, Fred, Shacklebolt…” Luna nodded again. “Oh, I’m sorry love. I forgot you didn’t like to talk about that. Do you forgive me?” Luna nodded and Harry finished the plait. “You’re the only person that I can talk to anymore.” Harry slid off the bed and stood in front of her. “Hermione hasn’t forgiven me, you know? For letting Draco die. I can see it each time she looks at the twins.” Luna nodded. “But you forgive me, don’t you love?” She nodded again. Harry smiled and cast the charm that would lay her back down again.

He slid the blankets off of her and started to remove the shapeless hospital gown. He frowned at the condition of her skin before leaving the room and coming back with a bottle of muggle moisturizer. “I don’t like that charm, the one that medi-witches and wizards cast. It makes you look like glass.” He stated as he squirted some of it in his hand and started rubbing the moisturizer into her arm. He finished one and moved onto the other. “We could have gotten married if this didn’t happen.” Harry said softly, repeating the mantra he said every visit. “I know I didn’t pay much attention to you at school, or after, but after Ginny set us up that time, I couldn’t get you off my mind.” He stared at her blue eyes for a moment, “Do you remember that day? A month before you were hit?” She nodded. Harry smiled and moved down to her legs with the moisturizer. “We really hit it off, didn’t we?” Luna agreed. “You liked me, didn’t you?” She agreed again. Harry quickly finished her legs and moved back to the head of the bed so he could see her eyes. “You’re so beautiful Luna; you should see how much your hair shines.” Harry pulled the corners of Luna’s mouth up so that she was smiling.

He leaned over and pressed his mouth against hers, “I love you too.” Looking around, Harry smiled at Luna’s empty room. It had taken some political manoeuvring, but he managed to get her her own room. Every month he bought two copies of The Quibbler and, after reading them to Luna, he’d paste them on the walls of her room. Smiling he pointed at one picture, “See that one? That’s me and Ron after the last battle. We kept our promise and allowed only your Dad to interview us. Hermione too. But after Draco’s death she was too upset to talk for awhile. That’s why Ron agreed to marry her.” He watched Luna’s eyes, “Yeah, we were worried about her. Someone had to watch the children, and Lucius was never caught. So Ron married her that way, if she died, he’d get the twins.” Luna smiled. “I thought it was the right thing to do too.” Harry began taking off his shirt.

“Did you miss me?” Luna nodded. “I miss you every time I’m not here.” He kicked off his shoes and sat on the edge of the bed to remove his socks. “The last medi-witch told me that you were pregnant.” Luna smiled at Harry. “I want to keep the baby too.” He stood up and took off his pants. “She’ll have your hair colour and my mother’s eyes. We can name her Lily.” Harry moved Luna over and slid into bed with her, pulling the covers up and wrapping his arms around her. “I don’t know what we’ll name it if it’s a boy. Hermione named one of the twins after my father and it would be too confusing to have two James’ in the house.” Harry smiled at Luna as he rolled them so that he was on top of her. “Of course we name the baby after your father, if he’s a boy.” Luna’s body jerked as he entered her. “I love you too Luna. After this one, do you want to have more children?” Luna nodded. Harry smiled again. “Anything for you love. Anything.”

I finished it! ...Are you coming on today?
