Okay, so I someone on Vox was flipping through a magazine, where it had The top 100 books as chosen by you (this is a book club mag), and as such, I thought, let's post this and see ( Read more... )

I wish I had the ambition to read more, but alas, I would rather have homework consume my soul and sit on my butt on my computer all day/night.

I've been meaning to read LotR but I just haven't gotten around to it... well, I have but that first chapter was so boring. I've been told, and seen from the movie, that it gets better but, God, that first chapter was mind-numbing in the worst ways. Also, I don't know how anyone can read Chicklit or Victorian romance. Those are... I read Pride and Prejudice for school and after that I entered the "never again" region for the entire genre of that period.

The Handmaid's Tale is actually really good - I recommend it. I didn't think it would be (I thought it would be typical, and it kind of is), but it's pretty short and goes quickly and worth reading. Same with Lovely Bones, but that one wasn't typical. And yes, definitely read 1984. Yay for Five People!

If you like most of the ones on that list that you have read (and think you would like the ones you might read in the future), I'm fairly certain that we enjoy the same sorts of books.

And it makes me sad that Life of Pi is now Life of Pit

Huh. I was wondering why someone would write a book about the life of a pit. That sounds really boring. The books on the list that I read, with the exception of Pride and Prejudice, I liked them all. They were awesome.
