Well, depending on what the piece of paper had on it (example -- a picture of a time when we hang out or , I might keep and enjoy it a lot longer than a simple piece of candy.

i think you'd like #66 as well. i did when i read it a couple years ago in my English 101 class.

All streams flow to the sea
because it is lower than they are.
Hummility gives it its power.

If you want to govern the people,
you must place yourself below them.
If you want to lead the people,
you must learn how to follow them.

The Master is above the people,
and no one feels oppressed.
She goes ahead of the people,
and no one feels manipulated.
The whole world is grateful to her.
Because she competes with no one,
no one can compete with her.

"Like Catholicism, when it's seen as a religion unto itself and not made subject to Christ's and the Apostles' instructions and teachings first."
I would yell and scream right now, but I know that won't solve anything. Just know that your above statment makes absolutely NO sense. The Catholic Church has CHRIST as its foundations and was founded BY Christ, and the traditions we have in the Church are passed down from the apostles. Read the early Church fathers (ie Ignatius, Augustine) and tell me otherwise.

What I mean is when traditions get in the way... improper deifying of Mary, etc. Read my criticism of my own denomination too, Angela.

You aren't implying that Mary is deified by Church teacher, are you?
I read the criticism of your denom.

If by "Church teaching" you mean the official position of the Roman Catholic Church, you probably know about that better than I, and I do not have the information to speak either way on the matter. So, no (from my experience). I am speaking of individuals (whether laymen or clergy) within the denomination who have a skewed view of her importance. I've known those who venerate her not much more than I do (and yet love God above all things), and known some who seem to almost place her above (or at least before) God (which is heretical, I am sure you will agree). If you were wondering, you have a view that is in between the two -- you have a high respect for her, ask for her prayers, and give God the credit for good things ( ... )
